If only there was something we could do to combat these elements that make life a little harder in the south... Oh wait. Plants can help with all of those issues and then some!

- Plants mitigate flooding by slowing the flow of storm water and allowing the soil to more readily absorb the excess moisture before it hits our storm drains.
- Established plants can take the brunt of strong storms and help to weaken them before they reach the areas we live in.
- Plants have the ability to cool the air around them through a process called Transpiration. This protects us in the Summer and can lead to energy savings for our homes and businesses!
- Plants' deep root systems allow water to penetrate soil deeply. This recharges our groundwater and makes our area more resilient during times of drought.
- Plants absorb Co2 and produce oxygen. Everybody likes to breathe right??
- Plants contribute to Biodiversity on earth. Having a diversity of life forms on earth is crucial to our survival. Diversity = Resilience.
- Plants prevent soil erosion with their roots. This prevents the loss of land and the life that resides within the topsoil layer. It also helps keep our storm drains clean.
- Plants filter storm water before it drains into our watersheds. Protecting natural areas from chemical contamination, reducing the workload on our water treatment facilities, and leading to cleaner water for us to drink!

What does Healthy Home Landscapes do? My service provides year-round landscape maintenance with a focus on flower beds and trees.
Why don't I apply chemical pesticides? Pesticides is an umbrella term for herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides, and many more products. These products have only one function and that is to kill living things. They are massively overused, misunderstood, and disrespected for how powerful they are and the environmental damage they can do. My service hopes to inspire and showcase how to work with nature to solve our problems and allow life to thrive while doing so.
What are my credentials? I am licensed in Landscape Horticulture (#4644), licensed in Arboriculture (#2839), and a Certified Louisiana Native Plant Professional.
What makes Healthy Home Landscapes different from other landscape companies? I am a licensed independent contractor that works directly with customers. All my services are done without the use of environmentally harmful landscape chemicals and loud gas powered tools. I have extensive plant knowledge as well as knowledge of natural systems and community infrastructure. Landscape care is both a professional and personal passion of mine and I thoroughly enjoy the work that I do!
